Spey Casting and Salmon Fishing Course

 

Is catching a Scottish salmon on your bucket list of things to try?!! Our courses are aimed at people of all ages wanting to try fly fishing for the first time or those who are still at the beginning of their journey to fly fish for salmon. Our courses will help you understand safely the principles of the Speycast using double handed rods.

On our Fly Fishing Experience course the emphasis is on teaching and good practice but as we are teaching on the river there is always the chance of a fish!!   As you progress with your learning, our full time Ghillies will take your new found skills out and try and tempt a salmon to grab your fly.

During the course our Ghillies will offer you a valuable insight into watercraft, tactics to suit the conditions and an all-round understanding of Fly Fishing for Atlantic Salmon.

A typical day runs from 9:00am to 5:00pm

 

Outline Of A Course:-
09:00: Meet at the hut for tea/coffee/dram!! and discuss plan for the day ahead
9:30: Brief Speycasting theory/demo to help you understand the key aspects of Speycasting
10:00: Casting tuition and one to one coaching
13:00: Lunch
14:00: The opportunity to fish under the guidance of our Ghillies, where further coaching is on hand one to one as you fish.
17:00: End of the day 


What to bring:- Just turn up with some sensible clothing, hat or cap and some sunglasses/glasses for protection. Please bring along your own lunch, we have cooking and BBQ facilities available at the Fishing Hut. Gratuities are not included in the price.


The beat provides Loop Branded Equipment that can be used on these courses, if you prefer and have your own equipment feel free to bring it along. Waders can be provided for use.

Courses start from £255 per person.


NB. There is no guarantee of catching a fish and any salmon caught before 1st July need to be returned to the water by order of the Tweed Commissioners . Weather conditions may mean that fishing cannot occur – invariably for the safety of the rods and the ghillies . The Head Ghillie` s decision will be final in such matters and no refund can be offered if fishing does not take place.
